Montreal may be under fire for not backing their own designers. Although it may not be a great “fashion capitol,” Montreal’s Fashion Week certainly serves up some serious sartorial talent.
We all know that rose gold is the most molten metal going on right and we loved how Natasha Thomas of By Thomas used the shimmering shade to accent her otherwise warm, woolen collection featuring dusty pinks and creamy whites. We love that By Thomas creates modern pieces that are incredibly wearable. Our top pick? The dusty rose coat paired with black leather pants for a naughty-meets-nice feel.
Avant-garde androgyny reigned in Pedram Karimi‘s futuristic fashion show featuring hard-edged cuts created with soft, flowing fabric. Styled with sky-high flatform sneakers and some naughty looking vinyl ball caps, the over-sized, boxy look probably isn’t for everyone. But we’d be curious to see how it would work, one item at a time.
Always a fashionista favourite, Mélissa Nepton‘s recent collection elicited more than a few “I want that”s from the audience. Perhaps her pregnancy inspired her to create a collection that melded geometric patterns with a comfortable-looking fit. We loved the deep necks, billowing shapes, flowing lines contrasting with heavy stripes and waxing and waning houndstooth patterns.
