Valentine’s Day Gift Guide: Last Minute Lifesavers

by Ashley Joseph

Are you among the poor souls who only realized that Valentine’s Day was here when you opened your eyes this morning? Or when your girlfriend/boyfriend called you asking what romantic plans you had in store? Right now, you might be in a panic over how to wow your man/woman with only a few hours to spare, while covering up the fact that you’ve forgotten this all-important day. Is this you? Well, we’ve got you covered:

Pick Up Gourmet Dinner from Fou d’Ici

We’re not suggesting that you lie and say you slaved over this meal for hours, but we’re not not suggesting it either.  Fou d’Ici’s Pret-A-Manger selection is always fresh and always delicious.

Luvmybox Subscription

Last year, we suggested a magazine subscription (see: The Full Depanneur Treatment), which is still a good choice but a subscription to Luvmybox is just slightly more on theme. Similar to the beauty box subscription concept, Luvmybox delivers a range of products monthly. Only they’re aimed at spicing up your love life, not your beauty routine.

Sappy Movie Stash

This one will likely only work on the ladies, unless your man happens to actually enjoy sappy love stories, in which case, congratulations to you. You’ve found a unicorn. Pick up a selection of romance-centric movies, tie a ribbon around them and gift away. You can’t lose with The Notebook, Say Anything, Sleepless In Seattle or, for that matter, anything by Nora Ephron.

Recreate Your First Date

Extra points for you if that happened to involve staying in, watching a movie and ordering in. Just make sure to get all of the details right – watch the same movie, order in from the same restaurant, have the same soundtrack playing in the background, etc. Add romantic candlelight to the mix and voila! Swoon guaranteed.
