The drive up to Mt. Tremblant this time of year is always a glorious canvas of red, yellow and orange, carpeting the northern hills and contrasting against the emerald shades of the evergreens. It’s a brief burst of nature’s glory that should be enjoyed as long as possible. So why not plan a few days stay? We have just the spot.
Hotel Quintessence: In a Class of Its Own
Celebrating its tenth anniversary this season, Hotel Quintessence is an estate-style expanse on Lake Tremblant that truly embodies what a luxury boutique is all about. From the moment you come upon the impressive equine sculpture at the grand entrance you realize that this is no cookie cutter hotel. Inside, your impression of originality is further confirmed by the grand winding stairwells surrounded by avant garde art. And the panoramic view of the lake and the mountains afforded by the ceiling-to-floor windows of the fireside lounge/lobby will stop you in your tracks. Quintessence is regarded as one of the most upscale lodges in the province, and their first-rate personal service and upscale experiences have been enjoyed by many VIPs including Celine Dion, Michael Douglas and Cate Blanchett.
Intimate by design, there are only 30 suites, ranging in size from standard to ultra-deluxe, plus one small stand-alone cabin in its own private woods. All the suites are lakefront and include huge fireplaces, deep soaking whirlpool tubs, luxurious Aveda bath amenities and state-of-the-art technology. Room service is available 24/7 and you can also order in-room massages. You might be tempted to stay in your room gazing at the lake from your spacious balcony or watching the deer feed under it at sunset, but the resort’s additional delights should not be missed.
World Class Dining
On-site restaurant options include a full service dining room and an adjacent winebar for small plates, but if you are really seeking to pull out all the stops, reserve the private garden atrium room and partake in the Chef’s Table menu. This charming little nook right off the kitchen provides an exceptionally intimate ambience to sample the chef’s choices – many of them locally sourced – and all prepared with panache. It is a 7-course menu for a flat rate and you can also have them pair it with fine wines for an additional charge. The Quintessence wine cellar is one of the most comprehensively stocked in the entire region.
Spoil Yourself Silly Packages
We particularly enjoyed our time at their Spa San Sabots where they offer a full range of treatments. There are steam baths and saunas inside, and soaking in the hot whirlpool outside with the infinity pool looking out onto the lake was truly divine, especially at night. But there are so many luxurious ways to pamper yourself at this resort that you might find it hard to choose. That’s why they offer special packages that include a little of everything all wrapped in a two-day experience that includes wine, gourmet fare and spa.
The Quintessence Hotel also offers free shuttles to the village so you can enjoy additional activities. For more ideas of what to do in the area this fall, visit Mt. Tremblant Tourism. And, don’t forget, enjoy the leaves!
